GR11 Day 7 Civilisation?
Well .... I'm glad we are in civilisation as if I was in the woods today I would have got a nasty surprise. I have had, for those of us in the know "A Tony blast out" for those not in the know just read the last two words, so my rest day has been spent between bed and bog.
On a positive note this has at least helped with the weight loss, and reducing body and pack weight. The rest of the time in our little oasis of luxury, we have spent stripping kit down. In a bid to make the next section a little easier and give us a hope of completing the walk.
We have snipped labels out of stuff, cut toothbrushes in half, posted back home 3.5 kilos of combined stuff. Discarded at least another kilo of bumf, the landlady has been left with a lovely umbrella, a water bottle and some spa sanctuary foot balm.
Unfortunately, all this maybe in vain as Jac's back has gone, not in the "see ya later sucker i'm off to lie on a beach" but in a "make me carry a heavy pack will you ... we will take that muscle and just trap it here shall we " kind of way.
Things I am grateful for:
Family Hollidge, they have been our ground support on bringing kit out and now shipping some of it back home again, as well as providing a little pre trip rest up at Casa Limon.
Now if I can just convince them to drive across Spain to get us then we won't have to walk back.
Toilet rolls and a comfy loo, when you have lost your internal functions for a while it is much better to do this in civilisation. It's crap enough (no pun intended) but in the woods it would be soooooo much worse.
